The entire syllabus of SSC CGL 2018 is divided into four parts as given below:-

  • Tier 1 : Online Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Questions)
  • Tier 2 : Online Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Questions)
  • Tier 3 : Descriptive Exam in Hindi/English
  • Tier 4 : Computer Proficiency Test/ Skill Test (wherever compulsory)/ Document Verification

SSC CGL Tier 1 Syllabus 2018

Tier-1 is an online based exam consisting 100 multiple choice questions. There are mainly four sections that are asked in SSC CGL Tier-1 exam. These sections are Quantitative Aptitude, General Reasoning, General Awareness and English Language.

The sections are further subdivided into following areas:

SSC CGL Tier 2 Syllabus 2018

After clearing Tier-1 exam, you become eligible for Tier-2. The syllabus of Tier-2 is similar to the syllabus of Tier-1 apart from few changes in the topics. Instead of General Reasoning, there is a new section called Statistics. There is a list given below for your better understanding.

SSC CGL Tier 3 Syllabus 2018

Tier-3 of SSC CGL is a descriptive exam that is conducted to measure the writing skills of the candidates in English or Hindi. The exam is offline based and students are asked to write essays, letters, applications, precis etc. This exam is not compulsory for every students but for the ones who are interested in the posts of “Statistical Investigator Grade II” and “Compiler”.

SSC CGL Tier 4 Syllabus 2018

Tier-4 examination of SSC CGL consists of various skill testing exams that are required for certain posts across the country.

  • Data Entry Speed Test (DEST)

This exam is conducted for the post of Tax Assistant (Central Excise and Income Tax) to measure the speed of typing of the candidate. A candidate is required to type a 2000 words article in 15 mins in English.

  • Computer Proficiency Test (CPT)

For this exam, the candidate is required to be proficient in Word processing, Spreadsheets and generation of slides for the post of CSS, MEA, Inspector (Preventive Officer), Inspector (Examiner).
While the exams of Tier-1 and Tier-2 are compulsory for all the students who are appearing for SSC, Tier-3 exam is mandatory for the ones who are interested in the post of Statistical Investigator Grade-III and Compiler and Tier-4 for the students who are applying for Tax Assistant, CSS, MEA and Inspector.
